LONELY PLANET FOR KIDS

Those of you who know me will not be surprised when you see this entry because it is closely connected to travelling, and that is definitely my passion.

Lonely Planet has been a leading trade mark in guide books for several decades and nowadays it is the largest travel guide book publisher company in the world.
www.lonelyplanet.com

Although their guides have often been criticised for different reasons, they offer very practical information to the independent traveller.

Today I want to share with you, the authentic material they have created for English speaking kids and that you will be able to explore on your own on the following link.
www.lonelyplanet.com/kids
On this website you will not only find all the published books designed for kids, but you will also find some resources and fun activities for your students.

Here you have the promotional video of Africa in Amazing World Atlas.

You could use the application for tablets as well as check the book in case you find it useful.

If you click HERE, you will find some resources to download and ready to use in your classes. Some of them look very nice to work with young students and to work contents connected to geography.

You can also try getting a copy of The Travel Book, entering a competition. You can find all the information in their blog

I hope your students like the activities.

This is the beginning!

This is just a short entry to introduce myself and to explain briefly the aim of this blog.

My name is Lourdes and I am an English teacher. In fact, I have been teaching English at secondary schools in the Basque Country for the last twenty five years. At the moment I am working as an advisor at the Berritzegune in Ortuella.

Although my primary task is not to advise on English specifically; honestly, that is probably my strongest point due to my long experience in teaching teenagers.

After wondering how to help other English teachers in their daily task, the idea of creating this blog came to me. And this is it.

I will try to post an entry a week trying to offer you, busy and hardworking teachers, ready-to-use materials, reflections on new methodological approaches, or simply new ideas for your classes. I know that teachers are always ready to use new materials, but assessment, loads of burocratic work and other enddless school engagements don't let us find the time to find the materials we would like to use.

I know it will not be easy to surprise you and to find useful materials, but you can be sure I will do my best to help you.

Thank you for your time and good luck in your daily work.
